Well, this is the time of year I usually talk about New Year's Writing Resolutions. You'll be happy to know that I'm not going to this year. Instead, I'm going to take the 2017 READING CHALLENGE that's shown in the meme above. I found this meme on Facebook, courtesy of the Writer's Circle. I also thought it would be fun to challenge all of you to do it too!

How can we do this? For the biography or auto-biography we could read about the life of Judy Blume, Theodore Giesel, Laura Ingalls Wilder, or anyone else you're a fan of. You could even go out of the world of kidlit and read a biography of say ... Henry VIII. What's that I hear? You don't want to leave the world of kidlit? Easy peezy. Read a how-to book on writing for children.

For reviewers, reading most of this list will be a snap since you have the books you review on your bookshelf or in your e-reader.

Most of these suggestions are self - explanatory. For instance, I notice that there's one up there that says to read a book by someone younger than you. Read one written by a young author or an author that you know is younger than you.

Many of these books are already on my bookshelf or on my e - reader. One just came in today's mail and I can't wait to get to it! It's a self - help book and yes, self - help is on the list.

The only one listed that I would REALLY find challenging is "read a book from my childhood." Hmmmm. The only store I know of that might have 'Mike Mulligan and His Steam Shovel' is 300 miles away from me. This store has so many books. Even books from way back when. I wonder if I can buy it over the internet somewhere?

So, as I said before, I challenge YOU to do this along with me. Have fun!
